I have chosen the way of love
Pushing through darkness
And anger
Grief beyond measure
Through a smothering illness
I have chosen the way of love
I have been thinking recently about what it costs to embrace a love ethic. This “way of love” seems idealized and romantic until you think about the fact that our world is bent on coldness and cruelty. Embracing the way of love means saying no to so many things in this life. Instead of retaliation, vengeance, and even despondency, the way of love beckons me to be intentional about my heart/body/soul and…others’.
The way of love as an anchor means saying no *and* yes. Yes to possibilities. Yes to holding God’s hand. Yes to scary vulnerability. Yes.
