Today marks a historic day in our nation as we commemorate the day in 1865 that enslaved Black folks in Galveston, Texas were notified of their freedom. This delayed date is a painful one as we remember the gap between the Emancipation Proclamation and Juneteenth. Freedom in this ungodly nation took time. Deliverance for Black souls took time. We also acknowledge the gap of justice that remains for us as Black people in our nation. We remember the promises today that take time to grow to fruition as we long and wait for redemption. We search the Scriptures as remember biblical examples gone by of ones who waited for promises to be fulfilled vy God. We remember the days when our ancestors were young and we hold them close.
Today our hearts dream.
Today our hearts mourn.
Today our hearts remember.
Today we gather.
Today.
*I pray that this day finds you resting and at ease. I know that I am reclining and taking it easy. Truly.*
