Who Am I?

Well, I am Robert, and the things that are important to me are eclectic indeed. At my core though, the things that are important to me are that I am Black. I am Christian. I am a lover of music, imaginative beyond belief, and a writer.

Why Broken Heart?

I decided to title this Substack with “Broken Heart” because to be quite blunt, life has broken me in many ways. Pain has marked me and shaped the way in which I move, perceive God, handle others with tenderness, etc. The tears of brokenness have allowed me and are still allowing me to talk more slowly, listen more empathetically, be bold in my convictions, and fight for justice with all my might. Brokenness does not have to mean that I am discounted from living a life that I can be proud of. In this spirit I write this newsletter.
