I absolutely loved this series. It makes me think of the people who have had the greatest influence of my views on masculinity — my dad and his brother, mostly — and they’re soft as water. And I’m cautious around anyone different. Now I’m thinking about what makes them so, and how we can leave more space for that. Thanks for this conversation.
I love that - “soft as water.” Those models of healthy masculinity are so important. I’m glad you have them. Thank you for making space for us to be and become.

I can almost hear the intonation and laughter in this conversation! Thank you for the Substack recommendations, too. There are many I adore and some y’all have introduced me to with this post.

Wonderful to “overhear” a conversation that’s filled with honesty and soft/strength. This is a really a privilege that I don’t take for granted. Thank you!

Thank you for helping me identify my toxic definitions and false expectations of masculinity. I'm hoping it's not too late to walk in this new power with my son.

This was incredible, and beautiful, and necessary. Thank you for allowing us into these important conversations! Thank you for modeling such beautiful masculinity.
Thanks for this series. I just subscribed to all the generative (love this!) men you listed. The only one I was already subscribed to was my love Robert Jones Jr.
I love this, Alex. What an important conversation. As the mother of a soft young man and the daughter of a hard baby boomer. Knowing these conversations are being had amongst black men is heartening. Thank you for sharing this ❤️
